We (Fernanda and Teresa) have been advocates of the use of educational technologies for many years. We practiced what we preached for quite some time until we retired.
We've been a part of the online world of education since the late 90s and started blending technology into our classrooms back then.
There is no doubt in our minds that blended learning (BL) is a 'must' in 21st century education. But there is equally no doubt that BL isn't yet rooted in the teachers of today, nor in their daily practice, as we feel it should be.
The online world has all it takes for any teacher to get involved in educational technology and turn the four-wall classroom into an open space. A space open to the world. A space that welcomes people from outside. A space that generates and promotes external participation and collaboration. A space that used to be limited in possibilities turned into a space of limitless possibilities.
