There are many ways of learning online and many workshops, sessions and courses to choose from, both free and paid.
One we love and have great experience of is the annual round (Jan-Feb) of various free 5-week sessions on different topics sponsored by TESOL International Association and some of its Interest Sections. This online event is called the Electronic Village Online, EVO for short, and is open to all teachers in general, specifically to language teachers. We ran an online workshop dedicated to exploring Web communication tools for 10 years.

There are also MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) to cater to everyone’s taste. They can have from hundreds to thousands of people enrolled. They’re fun and the learning experience is wonderful. They may be overwhelming at first, but then one gets used to go with the flow.
